Web Site Quick Tips – Searching the Empire Medicare Services Web Site
The Empire Medicare Services Web site has nearly 20,000 pages, so it isn’t always easy to find exactly what you are looking for. The following search tips will help you narrow your search when necessary.
Searching the Entire Site The search box in the upper left-hand corner of our Web site searches the entire site--that means all 20,000 pages mentioned above. We utilize the Google search engine, and Google displays results based on relevancy. Relevancy is determined by a number of things, including how many times the key word you searched on appears on the page, and how often the page is viewed, among others. What is relevant to Google may not always be what is relevant to you. For this reason, both Google and Empire Medicare Services provide ways to narrow your search.
Empire Medicare Services Advanced Search (Attachment 1) Under the main search box is a link called “Advanced Search.” If you click that link, you will see a page that gives you many options for narrowing your search. You can limit your search, based on line of business, to bulletins, news, or policies (LCD) on this page, so it is particularly helpful when you know what kind of content you are looking for. You can select just one box, or check multiple boxes, depending on your needs.
Google Help/Advance Search (Attachments 2 & 3) The Empire Medicare Services Advanced Search page contains links at the top to Google’s “Search Help” and “Advance Search” pages. “Search Help” answers some common search questions in a Q & A format. “Advance Search” allows you to limit your results by searching on exact phrases, omitting words, and other such options.
