Retired Local Coverage Determination (LCD) for Bone Mass Measurement - September 30, 2007

National Government Services for Medicare Part A will retire the Bone Mass Measurement LCD (L362-Maine, L366-Massachusetts, L4341-New Hampshire/Vermont, and L2187- New York) effective September 30, 2007.

Information regarding coverage of bone mass measurement can be found on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Web site CMS Manual System, Pub 100-2, Medicare Benefit Policy Manual, Chapter 15, Section 80.5, and Pub 100-4, Medicare Claims Processing Manual, Chapter 13, Section 140.

All local policy rules, requirements, and limitations within this LCD will no longer be applied on a prepayment basis, but as with any billed service, will be subject to postpayment review. All Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services national policy rules, requirements and limitations remain in effect.
