Participating Physician/Supplier Directory is Available (CR5307)
The Medicare participating Physicians/Suppliers Directory is an easy-to-use directory for finding participating physicians and suppliers in a specific area. Participating physicians and suppliers are those who have agreed to accept assignment on all Medicare claims. If participating, the provider cannot bill the beneficiary for more than 20 percent of the Medicare-approved charge, as well as any deductible, regardless of the amount of the actual bill. Medicare pays the other 80 percent after the yearly deductible is met.
The MEDPARD directory is not available in hardcopy format. A MEDPARD equivalent is available through the Internet, which includes all participating providers.
The directory is now available via the National Government Services Web site. To access this information from the National Government Services homepage ( www.NGSMedicare.com), follow these instructions:
- Choose “Information for People With Medicare,” then “Plan Choices.”
- Under Medicare Participating Physicians/Suppliers Directory (MEDPARD), click on the state you wish to view, either New Jersey or New York.
- You are now at the MEDPARD site and are given the option to search by county and specialty, or by city/county.
- Use the Edit menu/Find (on this page) to search for exactly what you wish to find. You can make a search for a specific physician/supplier and/or specialty.
