Instructions for Provider Notification Regarding Medicare Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program
Provider Types Affected
All Fiscal Intermediaries (FI), Carriers, Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carriers (DMERC), Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractors (DME MAC) and All Part A and Part B MACs (A/B MAC)
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Provider Communications Group leads the national education and outreach campaign for provider awareness of the Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program.
The Medicare DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program Final Regulation is now published in the Federal Register at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/CompetitiveAcqforDMEPOS/Downloads/CMS-1270-F.pdf .
CMS has also announced the first ten metropolitan areas in which competition will occur, as well as the first items to be competitively bid. Visit the CMS Web site at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/CompetitiveAcqforDMEPOS/ to view the rule and for additional information.
