Beneficiary Second Insurance Claims

How do my Medicare claims get to my second insurance?
Answer:
You may send them yourself,
OR
Medicare may send them for you.

Medicare will send your claims to your second insurance IF
-
You have a Medigap policy (A Medigap policy is one you pay for out of your own pocket.),
AND
-
Your provider participates in Medicare,
AND
-
Your provider gives us information about your Medigap policy on the claim.
OR
-
Medicare will send your claims to your second insurance IF
-
Your second insurance has a crossover contract with Medicare,
AND
-
You are on the crossover list.
You should contact your second insurance to find out if:
-
You have a Medigap policy,
OR
-
They have a crossover contract with Medicare,
AND
-
And you are on the crossover list. Only they can put you on.
If your second insurance is not a Medigap plan or does not have a crossover agreement, you will have to send your Medicare Summary Notices to them.
