New Stratus
Password Requirement
As you are aware, the HIPAA Security
Regulation went into effect on April 20, 2005. This
regulation calls for changes in the way you, a Trading
Partner (Submitter), must access our system in terms of
logon and passwords. The new password requirements
include the following:
-
Password must be eight (8)
characters in length
-
Password must contain a combination
of both numeric and alpha characters
-
Password cannot contain the Logon
ID
-
Password must be changed
periodically
-
Password must be lowercase
This change impacts all customers using
the Highmark data center, which includes both HGSA
Medicare (PA) and Empire Medicare (NJ).
As a result of these new regulations,
we have conducted a survey of all trading partners’
passwords. Those submitters who have been
identified as a Trading Partner who do not meeting these
requirements will be contacted shortly. We ask
that if you receive the letter, please change your
password as soon as possible to conform to the new
regulations.
