Correction
Empire Medicare Services’ Local
Coverage Determination (LCD) for Mental Health Services
(PS001E03) included a statement regarding coverage of
psychotherapy services that include an Evaluation and
Management (E&M) component. This statement has been
corrected to remove Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) from
coverage for these services. In New York State, under the
Nurse Practice Act, CNSs are only covered for
psychotherapy, not for E&M services.
This change will take effect on
November 22, 2004.
