The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will launch the 2006 Medicare Contractor Provider Satisfaction Survey (MCPSS) in January 2006. The MCPSS, which was piloted in 2005, will be a national initiative for 2006. The survey will enable CMS to gauge provider satisfaction with key services performed by their contractors. The results will be used by contractors to improve provider customer service, and by CMS for Medicare contractor oversight. Provider participation in the MCPSS is imperative to accomplish CMS’s goal of influencing the efficient administration of the Medicare program. If you are chosen as a survey recipient, we urge you to take the time to complete the survey as completely and accurately as possible. With your feedback, CMS and Medicare contractors can implement process improvement initiatives that will benefit providers. The survey focuses on seven key areas of the provider-contractor relationship: Provider Communications
Survey responses may be submitted via secure Web site, mail, or fax. The survey will be administered by a survey research firm, Westat. Providers who have questions about the survey may contact Westat’s Provider Helpline at 1-888-863-3651, or may email Westat at: mcpss@westat.com.
