Provider Types Affected Physicians who bill Part A/B Medicare Administrative Contractors (A/B MAC), or Medicare carriers for services to Medicare beneficiaries Background The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reconsidered the Medicare coverage policy for TEB for drug-resistant hypertension and decided to retain current coverage as written in Section 20.16 of the National Coverage Determinations (NCD) Manual. Effective for dates of service on and after November 24, 2006, the current policies for cardiac output monitoring by TEB listed at section 20.16 of the NCD Manual will remain the same. Medicare A/B MACs and carriers will continue to make reasonable and necessary determinations for the use of TEB related to drug-resistant hypertension only. All other coverage and noncoverage policies at section 20.16 remain in effect.
