Attn: 835 Remittance Receivers

There is a problem with the claim status indicator code (CLP02) in the 835 electronic remittance for reversals and corrections. The reversals are being set correctly with a “22” but the corrections are also being set to a “22,” which is incorrect. The fix for this issue resulted in the value being set to a status code of “4” (denied) for the corrected claim; however, this is also incorrect. The standard system is in the process of implementing a change to back out the program fix, which will revert back to the original issue first reported with status code “22.” Subsequent to this change, another fix is tentatively scheduled for the January 2006 release, which will set the claim status indicator code for the reversal to “22” and set the claim status indicator code for the correction as appropriate. Please refer to the 835 Implementation Guide for a listing of all valid claim status indicator codes.
