ZIP Code Inquiry A new ZIP Code inquiry feature is available online for FISS DDE users that handle ambulance billing. The ambulance claims can be type of bill 13X, 22X, 23X, 83X, and 85X with revenue code 540, and the appropriate HCPCS code. In order to have access to this new feature you must complete the OMNIPRO SM Logon Request Form (MC1064); under Selection IV is the new inquiry selection for Zip Code File. If you would like this inquiry for any new or existing OMNIPRO SM Logon ID numbers please complete a new form and indicate an “I” in the Zip Code File field in Section IV. The form will be processed and allow that user access the Zip Code File. The new form can be found on our Web site at: http://www.empiremedicare.com/omnipro/forms/MC1064.pdf. The Fiscal Intermediary Standard System (FISS) Provider Online Manual is updated to include the new ZIP Code File Inquiry Documentation in Chapter IV. The purpose of the new selection 19 is to provide an online method for accessing the ZIP code file. To view the ZIP Code File: Key “19” at the “Enter Menu Selection:” prompt. Press “<Enter>.”
When the screen is displayed, the first ZIP code loaded on the file will appear in the first line. The lower portion of the screen will display the next ten ZIP code records in ascending order. The user has the capability to enter a ZIP code to display a specific record. The user can also page forward and backwards through the records on the file by using the commands indicated on the screen. If the ZIP code entered is not found on the ZIP code file, a message will be displayed indicating “ZIP Code not found, verify the ZIP Code.”
