Troubleshooting

Select a category below for a solution.

Installation

First, be sure your PC meets the minimum system requirements, which are: Pentium 133MHz or higher, 64 MB memory (128 MB for Windows XP), SVGA resolution 800x600 minimum, Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP or NT 4.0 or 6.0 and Adobe Reader 4.0 or later for claim printing.

Payer Invalid

PC-ACE edits have identified a Payer ID as invalid.

This error occurs when a Payer ID on a claim cannot be found on the PC-ACE Payer database in Reference Files.

Solution

First, verify that the Payer ID on the claim is a invalid Payer ID and that it has been entered into the PC-ACE Payer Information screen.

If the Payer ID on the claim is invalid, follow the procedure to, ‘Add a Payer ID

Performance

After archiving claims, PC-ACE seems to be running slower. Screens take longer to display. This symptom may occur even if you don’t archive claims.

Solution

When you run the Claim Archive, selected claims are compressed and stored ‘offline’. Those claims are deleted from your active claim file but not physically removed from the database.

In order to recover the space you have freed up and increase the performance of PC-ACE you must remove the deleted records by Packing the claim database. Packing physically removes unused records.

Pack PC-ACE’s databases using the following procedure.

  • From PC-ACE’s Main Menu select System Utilities
  • On the System Utilities screen click on the File Maintenance tab
  • Highlight the name of the database you want to pack or click on Select All
  • Click on the Pack button
  • Click on Close when PC-ACE indicates the Pack operation has completed

Sending Claims

Provider receives a Claim file not found! message (below) when trying to send a PC-ACE claim file using Empire e-Link.

Claim File Not Found

Cause

e-Link was given the wrong file location or file name for the PC-ACE claim file.

Solution

PC-ACE Pro32 uses the name BSTRANS.DAT for its output claim file. BSTRANS.DAT is located in the directory Winpcace. You can use the Browse button to search for the file. (See example screen below.)

If BSTRANS.DAT is not located in the Winpcace directory, PC-ACE did not successfully Prepare your claims.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions are questions that are most often heard by our Help Desk technicians. If you don’t find an answer here you can contact our Technical Help Desk at 866-899-7322. If your question is not technical, but policy related, call Provider Inquiries at 866-837-0241.

Q.
When I try to install PC-ACE Pro32 I receive an error saying that PC-ACE is already installed. Why?

A.

If an earlier copy of PC-ACE was deleted from Windows by deleting the WINPCACE folder, the PC-ACE installation program thinks PC-ACE is still installed because its Windows Registry entries are still present. If you want to remove PC-ACE from your computer, PC-ACE must be removed by using Add/Remove Programs in Window’s Control Panel. This procedure is necessary to remove the Windows Registry entries.

If you receive this type of error, contact the Technical Help Desk and ask for Second Level Support.
